2.3 Natural Hazard Prevention

Natural hazard prevention programs aim to protect life, property and natural resources from natural hazards. Gully treatment, landslide treatment, torrent control, stream bank protection, conservation pond construction and run-off harvesting dam construction come under the natural hazard prevention program.

2.4 Community Soil Conservation and Extension

These programs are intended to raise the awareness level of community members, develop their knowledge, skills and motivate them to participate in SCWM activities. This program includes water source conservation, micro-catchment demonstration establishment, demonstration site management, support in rural soil conservation and income generating activities. Bee-keeping, private nursery, mushroom growing, vegetable growing are the main income generating activities related to land and water resources.

3. Community Mobilization and Empowerment

These programs aim to mobilize and empower the community to implement SCWM activities. Group identification and formation, training / workshop / study tours, conservation education in schools, conservation day celebration,  extension material production and distribution come under this program.

4. Nursery Establishment and Seedling Production

Nursery establishment and seedling production activities come under this program.

5. Maintenance and Improvement

Maintenance and improvement of conservation activities implemented in the previous years come under this program.  

6. Technology Development, Study, Research and Mapping

Applied research, soil/water sample collection/analysis, mapping, various types of testing/study/research and report preparation come under this program.                       

7. Monitoring and Evaluation

Monitoring and evaluation of physical activities implemented in the field, natural system monitoring, photo point monitoring, progress review meeting and annual report preparation come under Monitoring and Evaluation.
